The Rookery

The rookery celebrates the vibrant bird life of Louisiana through a series of miniature shadowbox worlds.

Contained within each are bird species that live in, or migrate through, Louisiana. Each birds is hand drawn, silkscreened and then hand cut then layered with found sticks collage and silkscreened local flora, resulting in a one of a kind contained installation.

Reflecting on predicted bird declines of up to 50% for several of these bird species, this show brings into focus the precious and precarious nature of these Louisiana residents.
